Hi all,

Got a 2000 4Runner. Last few days I've been blasting the radio, but decided to turn it off today, and discovered the following rattles:

A) When accelerating hard, I hear a rattle from what seems to be the passenger side dashboard, near the airbag? I've heard from some that it might be something behind the airbag. So should I go through the glovebox to get to it?

B) Also when accelerating hard, I hear some sort of rattle coming from either the undercarriage or near the firewall? A very metallic sounding rattle. It dosen't happen all the time. But when it does, it occurs whenever I accelerate hard, and stops after a split second.

Any ideas?

B) That rattle could be the heat shield for your cat under the truck. Wiggle it, see if it's loose.

 

mine does that but it sounds like plastic rattle where the cig. ligter is rather than metal. I've learned to block it out. Try shaking the whole truck to see if you can locate it.
