Still need DRL plug location on 99 runner

Hey Guys,
I'd like to disconnect my Daytime running lights on my 99 .
Anyone know what the plug looks like or what side of the battery it's on?
The only obvious plug connection I see is the Airbag connector under the battery.
Will this work for 2001 as well?
Thanks , kenny S>

On '99 & '00, the drl box is located in between the battery and driver side fender well. Unplug it to disable your drls. Just cover up the connections to keep debris from getting in.

'01 & '02's are completely different. DRL box is under the steering wheel and has to be rewired to effectively disable the drls. See the write up for this in the tech section.

Thanks Rockslide but I'm having a problem locating it.
I see a gray connector mounted to the top of the chassis, a gray connector mounted directly to the underside of the fuse box and a yellow connector which I believe is the Airbag connector.
Is it IN the fender well behind the thin plastic liner?

Thanks, Kenny S>

Like Rock Slide said, the DRL box is in between the battery and the inner fender. It looks kinda like a cage with a gray plug. I have a couple pictures pointing out where it is, but I don't know how to insert the pictures. Any help so I can help?

Hmmmmmmmmm....................that explains a lot because
I have nothing that looks close to that or the black box with the cage in my 99 runner. Man date 9/98
I've looked all around the battery with no luck.

Puzzled..........

Keep your e-brake pulled up one click. It wont do anything until about 3 or 4 clicks anyway, and the DRLs only engage once the e-brake is completely released.

Wonder if your drls are aftermarket then.

i recently installed a hi/lo hid kit on my 2000 4runner. i'm not sure if all the kits are the same but the way mine wires in it plugs into the factory headlight harness on the dr/batt side and then runs from that side to the pass side headlamp leaving the pass side headlamp harness unplugged. i tried unplugging the resistor box, tried removing the drl fuse, and still the drl's remain on. what other options do i have? anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it? i really want to stay away from cutting wires.

I would guess your DRL is aftermarket and so anything is possible. My '99 4Runner does NOT have DRL's and I think they only came in the 2000's. Mine was one of the last ones made as I bought it just before the next years came in.

If he is from Van, BC. and not Van. WA, and the vehicle is CDN imported then he will have factory DRL's in his 4Runner. My 92 4Runner even had DRL's.

i am from canada but i imported this truck from the us. i tried unplugging the box by the battery that everyone says to unplug but it has no effect. i think it has something to do with the hi/lo hid kit i installed. i'm not sure if all the kits are the same but the way mine wires in it plugs into the factory headlight harness on the dr/batt side and then runs from that side to the pass side headlamp leaving the pass side headlamp harness unplugged. anyone know anybody that has same style hid kit installed on a 2000 4runner limited?
