Stereo got Jacked!

while i was in school today getting my oh so important education, somebody came in through my back window on my pickup, ripped out my deck, took my sub, and my amp. Then as i was driving home i noticed they jacked my Radar detector too! I am PISSED. I am gunna see if my schools video cameras caught anything, and ask around. i got about 8 friends who will help me kick their buts.

BAH tons of money into something i love and its all gone, a 17 year old cant afford that!

Terk,

Sorry to hear that. i hope you catch the bastids.

And all an alarm is for stereo thieves is like playing rave music while they steal stuff. No one pays any attention to alarms anymore.

Unless your alarm has a pager.

My DEI Python had an LCD remote that beeps or vibrates if someone tampers with my 4Runner.

I have the same alarm, kick ass product, and works up to over a mile away I think (pager wise).

Sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope things work out for you.

fwiw, there's another current thread with alarm info (and links to other alarm threads) running over here:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f124/keyless-entry-31981/

The one I use will let me know if someone's messing with the car as well. But, if you're 1/4 mile away and it goes off, then honestly, there's not a lot you're going to be able to do about it outside of being able to call the cops quicker.

If someone wants something that's in your rig, or the rig itself, they'll take it. It takes VERY little time to hook up a tow bar or a tow truck with a quicklift and pull it out of there. Alarm or no alarm - no one pays attention.

Actually, where your car is parked should play a rather important role. Assuming that you were parked on your campus - your parking security program was negligent, very strange too 'cause students are usually VERY good about calling in suspicious behaviour like, for example, someone crawling in through the back window of a truck.

Sorry to hear of your troubles

"FREE SEX"

If your alarm screamed that then you'd have people come running to see.

I got try that one.

yeah your insurance might help you out some, also if you have reciepts and the truck is under your parents name file a claim with his/her home owners insurance, they may pick up whatever the car insurance doesn't.

I got my two-way alarm installed for $500. this includes a lifetime warranty on the alarm

And then what? You come running so some dude stabs you for a stereo? I have a $1500 navigation system, but it is not worth my life or a serious injury. It would suck, but they can have it all.

That is why I have pictures of the stuff with serial numbers, so my insurance can give me the cash.

Sooooooo, where do you live?

j/k

I have my carputer in with a 7"lcd that I wouldnt wanna lose either. I take my gps receiver off the roof and stick it inside the truck when not in use. I am going to be fabbing something to put over the screen as to not draw attention to it. Kinda like this. (scroll down)

Looks nice sabre - you're lucky you have the column shifter, when I tried doing that with a Cappuccino I basically gave up 'cause of the lack of room for a decent sized screen (and I didn't want to spend the $$$ on replacing my head unit).

Thats not my truck. I was showing how that guy hid his screen. My screen is mounted in front of the ashtray/cig lighter. When in park the shifter is in the way but for the most part im using it while driving so its fine when in drive.
