I've been getting a humming/vibration as I turn the wheel at slow speeds, so I had a mech look at it and he recommends a new rack and pinion, saying it is leaking steering fluid in turns. I also asked about my steering wheel being 10 deg. off and he thought it may be related, (though it's been that way since I bought it used in '00.) He wants $700 to replace and align a new rack and pinion. Any advice? I asked about maybe getting a used or remanuf. rack and he wasn't wild about that idea. I searched a bit and seems like $700 isn't that bad, from what some of you have found.
