Starting woes?

A few months ago, my vehicle would sometimes start up then shut off right after... The rpm's would be very low and it feels very weak. Sometimes when I step on the gas a bit, it would be ok... Lately, it has been occuring more frequently... Any idea what the problem is?

I don't think an alternator would do that. It sounds like a bad Idle Air Control valve (IAC valve). It seems to me that it is one of the most common mechanical repairs on a Toyota. I would check the trouble codes first just to be sure.

There is no error codes. I just got it smogged less than 2 months ago and it was fine. MAF was cleaned about eight months ago... I'll probably clean it again this week...
