Spark plug question...What causes this???
Ive seen wet spark plugs,oily spark plugs and just about every combination possible but Ive never seen this....
Heres one side....

and the other side of the same plug...

Why would one side of the plug be clean and the other side dirty???
It runs MUCH better now with the proper NGK's!!

The one tan side is probably next to the exhaust valve, so it gets more heat when the gases leave that cylinder. That plug doesn't look that bad to me as far as color.

I replaced the bosch platinums with the proper NGK's and it runs smoother.This little 22RE purrrs like a kitten now!
I just thought it was a weird for one side of the plug to be clean.
Do you think these new plugs will exhibit the same coloration??

I've got an off the wall question. How are ya'll posting your pics inside the threads now? I use MontyPics and it used to post the pic in the thread, but now it just puts the link in there. I've done it the same way I always have and the last few times I've done it, it only put the link there. What gives?

It makes sense that one side would operate cleaner than the other.I just thought it strange as Ive never seen that happen before.

The stock plugs in my 01 3.4L tacoma were 20k miles past due because the previous owner didnt replace them. I got a CE light on a hill about a month ago that was found to be a misfire. I went ahead and replaced my plugs with ngk's and my wires and it runs great. The plugs looked about like yours but not as bad. I will definitely be replacing them at the 30k mile mark from now on. Probably will do the seafoam thing right before the next change.

I ran 2 seperate Seafoam treatments.
I did the first according to the instructions,then drove the truck as normal for a week and then did a second treatment using 2/3 of a bottle and letting it sit for about 30 minutes.
Needless to say my neighbors werent delighted either time due to the abundance of smoke!
The truck runs MUCH better after the second treatment allthough I did notice a difference after the first treatment.
I drove the truck as normal after the second treatment for about a week before I changed the plugs.I wanted every opportunity for the gunk to be out of the system.

The truck ran ok but is much smoother,quieter,and has a noticable seat of the pants performance difference after the treatment and plugs.
You may notice a difference but it may not be as substantial as what I noticed due to your low miles.
I think youll notice a bigger difference if youve done a lot of city driving(versus highway) as it tends to clog things up faster.
