something etching rear window
In my 95 4runner something has apparently come loose and is etching the rear window as it raises and lowers. The affected area is about six inches at the top and bottom, just left of center looking from outside, on the OUTSIDE of the window. The gate still opens once the window is down. I was in the sand at pismo this weekend, but this is definitely much deeper than anything sand would do.
I can pull the interior panel while the window is up so I'll probably have decent access to it, but what are the possible causes in this part of the gate? What should I be looking for?
Thanks in advance.
BTW, It was good meeting some of you guys at pismo. I wish I could have stayed longer. Wheeling in the sand was good fun.

Update: I took the panel and inner cover off. The etching is about where the lock is on the inside, but I couldn't find anything loose. How does the interior cover across the top of the gate come out? Can I extend the window with the gate down?
I have more questions than answers right now.

My rear window got etched slightly by a piece of gravel that wedged into the weather strip/squegee on the rear window. I cleaned the strip where the offender was and that was the end of the problem.

It was so long ago I can't remember how I did it but I think there is a switch that must in the closed position in order for power to reach the motor,be carefull the window is not very stable out of the rubber track.. I think I put the gate latches in the closed postion by hand...sorry my memory sucks!!!!!
