Solanoid or Starter going bad? '97TacoV6
Every morning for the past week when I go to start my taco I get that dreaded click, like it is not going to start. Then on the second try it cranks up. Only does it first thing in the morning when the engine is cold. Is this the starter crapping out? I've seen other post where you can replace the solinoid and not the whole starter, how do you know what to do? Any help you guys could offer would be great. Thanks.

Those are the exact symptoms my starter had, and all I did was replace the contacts. Its been about 4 months now with no problems. It's really easy, and there is a writeup somewhere on here in the tech section. Parts were under $20 shipped. If it's an automatic, do it soon before you're stranded somewhere,it's not like you can bump start it

I don't have the contact info anymore, but you can search and probably find it.
