Acid washed the rig...had 3 years of water spots on it....no more! brought back the original clear coat. She hasn't looked this good in a VERY long time. Damn sprinklers and Hawaii rain!

People actually wash their cars in Hawaii??? JK at least you're not on Maui, that red dirt is another breed over there. Looks good though!!!

haha! the clay is no fun! I was amazed at how this stuff removed the water spots. They are even off the glass! Minus trail damage, brand new again!

 

soo what is it called ? i need to polish and wax mine its lookin a little rough

 

Wax doesn't really remove grit...you need to either clay bar it or do an acid wash to revive your paint

 

I would not clay bar UNLESS you Acid wash first. Reason, though the clay bar will knock some of the cacium bond off, not all of it will be removed. Then you wax over the remaining and calcium eats away! BUT, these are ruged SUV's, we dont keep em purdy!

Elton, I have no idea what it is called. He pored it into a 32oz spray bottle. It's green liquid though! The for the windows is called Water spot removal by Rocky Mountain Wax Works, havent even checked their site out.
I used synthetic steel wool 0000 grade to do the windows. Reason, I didnt want the regular steel wool to leave small particles behind while the acid was on the window and etch the glass. Sythetic steel wool last forever!

You should be able to go to a profesional detail shop and buy their stuff for the DIY.

 

you cant get the stuff for the paint onto the glass cause it will etch the glass but the stuff for the windows can remove water spots from the paint. Mine was just too severe. We did test spots before i got it and the window stuff did absolutely nothing for the paint. The green stuff worked wonders!

Interesting...never heard of someone putting acid on their paint. Looks like it did a pretty nice job of restoring yours though! I've used clay bar and it did great, made the coat soooo smooth. Might look into using this acid stuff the next time my paint looks dull.

And I 100% agree with you on our Hawaii rain. It does leave spots that can't be easily removed. I guess it's all of the ash and smoke from Kilauea mixed with the rain which ain't good for paint.

How would the Acid Wash be different then just compounding/polishing? Wouldn't using a circular polisher and a heavier cut pad/compound have the same effect? I have never heard of using acid wash on clear coats.

 

i want to know what this "ACID WASH" is....because i officially want to wash all of my vehicles with it now.
