Hello, anyone in the SoCal area who can loan their Snap On Tensioner Compressor Tool YA9730? Need for a timing belt replacement as I hear it makes life much easier. Will buy you a drink Thanks!

No need for this tool if your kit includes the hydraulic tensioner or if you pull the compressor bracket and remove the tensioner before compressing it in a vise.

thanks, rworegon! I've looked at several instructions and some say it saves a boatload of time, while others say you don't need it. have you changed your timing belt before? would definitely appreciate any other insight or lessons learned.

Yes, I do my own TB changes, HG, etc. on my 5vz-fe 3.4L.

just finished my timing belt replacement this past weekend. since I replaced the tensioner and idler pulleys, didn't need the snapon tool.

however, i get a squeaking sound that intensifies when i push the gas -- thinking it has something to do with the drive belts either being too tight, or not tight enough. any ideas on what the problem might be?

What tension do you have in the drive belts i.e. how much deflection over the span?
