Small Exhaust upgrade question

Ok, I am on a limited budget this year. So my upgrades are few and far between.

I want to cut out the muffler and the tip on my 1999 3.4 4Runner exhaust and replace them with a less restrictive and better sounding alternative.

What are your opinions? Ideas?

how much of a budget are you on? i just got the 2.25" Jardine Cat-back for my taco for about $240 shipped, i like the sound, its not too loud and not too quiet, i would save up and do it right the first time.

A dynomax muffler would be very easy on the wallet. I got the superturbo. It sounds great but drones.

For a good stainles tip there is the Sumit Stainless exaust Tip.

For Mufflers the Magnaflow, Dynomax Superturbo or Ultraflow and the Flowmaster Series 40 are the most popular.

you can order the muffler and then find a place to cut out the old one and weld the new muffler and tip on or find a shop that will sell the muffler and install. You should be able to do this for around $200 or less.

I got my muffler off of Ebay shipped to me for $60 and had a cat back system welded up for a little over $100. Is that with in your budget?

I ended up getting a stainless sports pipe off of a Honda Vigor ,4 door cruiser type and fabbed the rest from about the shock to the cat myself.all stainless for roughly $25.00 30.00 total and she sounds pretty shweet to me.
almost sounds like a tuned 4ag.

I chose the 50 Deltaflow because it is much quieter than the 40 Series, less expensive than the 60 Series, and quieter than the 50 Series SUV version in the interior. Throaty at both ends of the throttle spectrum, yet quiet at a neutral(cruising) position. I hear it during acceleration/deceleration, but it's almost silent at cruising speed. The perfect blend. No Droning. Period.

I have a dynomax ultra flow on my taco 3.4, it sounds great and does not drone like some of the flowmasters and other dynomax's will.

Good stuff. I just need to go out and measure the pipe diameter to see what size inlet and outlet I need to have. My brother is a welder so I can get him to weld it on for me.

I want a nice little rumble and for it to wind up when I accelerate.

Do you like the Glasspack? Would you consider it very noisy for long trips?

I really like my glasspack. Check out Corey's exhaust page there are two video clips of my rig. That will give you a real good idea of the sound.

Long trips with a glasspack will drive you insane, just my 0.02. But with mufflers everyon ehas a preference, some like that, I prefer low deep notes that only scream when you stomp it. The glasspack drives me nuts because of the gurgle when you slow down and how loud they are at hwy speeds.

In all honesty, mine does not drone at highway speeds. However, you are right about the gurgling. The only time there is a drone is at 2K RPM, and I hardly ever drive that low anyway.

I wonder if different brands of glasspacks have different properties, that could be the difference.
