Should I let dealer do this?

Went to dealer to diagnose front rattle (dash.. cowling.. no idea). Mech didn't even look at it. Based on my description he said the headliner has to be pulled down. He wouldn't tell me what to look for exactly.
Trim on front doors is also very poorly fitted, so they ordered new clips for me and they'll have to rip the trim off the doors to install them.
Mind you, when I originally got the truck(brand new) from this dealership, it was missing 2 center wheel caps, cargo mat and all tires had 50psi in them.
Also, sales manager told me (when I was buying the truck) that if the vehicle has to be kept for more than 1 day, they'll give me free rental. Service manager just told me that the only way I'll get free rental is if my car is unsafe to drive. Nice, honest people.

I agree with Dr Z. Try another dealer, and document everything.

That's BS about the rental car. They gave me a rental car for the clogged front diff breather to be replaced (which I caused), and they replaced it under powertrain warranty!

Needless to say, I still hate everything associated with dealers.

I second that.

I used to get a free rental whenever I had service done. Of course later on I found on the particular dealership had a bad rep. So if they give a free rental...I think they all would.

BTW, nice sig pic...reminds me of Excite Bike.

My 71 landcruiser is full of noises. One of my friends puts in earplugs so he can sleep on long trips

Still does rock. If you have Excite Bike 64 on the N64, you can also play the original. Pretty cool...and you don't have to drag out the old NES.

YODA, old Landcruisers are SUPPOSED to make noise. Lets everyone know they are in a REAL 4x4. How can your buddy sleep in a classic Toy 4x4? Is he damaged in some way?

Thanks for your input, everyone. Truth be told, I don't think I can trust any dealer, period. I was the same way with bikes.. started by having local shop work on mine, they kept doing poor job.. eventually, I started doing everything myself.. rebuilding forks, lacing wheels, etc.
When it gets warmer, I'd love to pull the headliner down myself, but it would be much better if there was a write-up on it or if there was a manual that would list steps.
I've searched all the forums and best I found was vague idea of how to do it (start from back, remove pilars, use dynamite to remove handles from front pilars cause they're loc-tited in place )
Would toyota manual have better explanation?
Thanks again

haha...sorry, this is humerous. I just wrote a reply about dealerships. I am with you about not trusting a dealership for anything. They always do things wrong and have no idea what they are talking about.

Access to Manheim auctions online

I need to view what is available at dealer auctions websites but I need someone who is a dealer to lend me access numbers. Waiting for offers.
