That is my garage, and I already have a block and tackle 7:1 reduction but I wanted to get it up and down quickly while I was fabbing it up.

I actually plan on doing a mild OME lift, and some nice 33's with the AR Mojaves in teflon. and some MT's I can still rock the OEMs when i plan on driving it, so its cool.


thanks all on the comments / compliments. It took a boatload of time to make it 100% right, it actually needs a little bit more tweaking, but I decided to take a mental break. I have since been asked to build another one for my friends cherokee sport. It will be much longer than mine as he has no sunroof. I'm interested to see what it will look like..

 

How much money do you have invested in it? I would love one on my rig, I think my whitewater boat is wearing out my factory rack.

Looks great , I made one just like yours, your corners are much better than mine , I have a sheet of that diamond stuff and did not use it because of the weight. also I should have put some lights at the back.

 

i wanna see the mounts to the body! and how did you run the wires for the lights. just drill a hole in the roof, grommet, and some silicone?

 

How is the glare from the lights on top to the windshield? did you notice a glare at all? and i too would like to see the mounts from the rack to the vehicle.

 

I actually made the mounts bolt to the existing roof rack rails. I figure both my spaced feet and the rails will disperse the weight nicely. The lights dont glare on the windshield. The sunroof however is another story. But I made it so I can adjust them from the sunroof while in the driver seat. The wiring is a slick idea. I bought a trailer harness and used the "truck side" on the rack and the "trailer side" on the car. The 4 wire plug is in the rear hatch near the tailgate hinge, and then it goes inside to the front where I put the factory foglight switches from toyota. This way I can unbolt the rack and undo the lights without having a boatload of splices to undo etc...

 

damn thats a good idea. didn't even think of that. i'll be running an amber/running light. a reverse light. and 4 lights up front. should be perfect and not draw too much
