Runner Bumper

I am a 35 year old teacher, married with three kids. Wife is a teacher also. I have owned a few Toyotas and recently bought a 4-runner (1987) like my moms. She has an 85 with about 30k miles on it-is PERFECT. It was bought in the states (new by my parents) and driven to Costa Rica where it has been since 1993. I have been lurking here for a while now and found most of what I need through the search function. However, I am considering bidding on a chrome bumper with provision for a hitch -I camp a lot and tow a small trailer with our stuff. The bumper is for an 85 4-runner and mine is an 87. Will it fit? This would work well for me as mine is a bit rusty and slightly mangled. The bumper is also really close to my house (1hr away )
Thanks for any insight.
Randy

OK, I can't give you a 100% definitive answer as I've never had a 1st Gen, however as both the 85 and 87 are 1st Gen, and I'm unaware of any major body changes during the period I reckon it will fit.
If it were me, I'd certainly take the chance on it.

You will LOVE it there. Keep your wallet in your front pocket, though
Lots of petty thieving there. Not much in the way of serious crime. Be sure and check out the markets in San Jose and get some of the home grown coffee. Be careful it is POTENT. They LOVE Americans BTW. They call you Gringos.

No reason why it shouldnt fit. Back half of the frame on a 85 and 87 are identical.

Thanks, Adam . I am going to be out your way the 19th of this month. The Zoo on the 19th and then Drews Off-Road sale-swap-show (Hamilton,OH) on the 20th. I hope the Drews thing is worth the trip, never been, but I need a few things for my rail.

Yes, they should swap out no problem. My rear bumper design fits on all the '84-'89 1st gen 4Runners without any changes:
