This morning while driving to work I passed a Tacoma with what looked like a rubber (or plastic) rocker panel protectors.

They were very well blended in with the truck and look like they'd do a great job of preventing rocks from strafing the paint. (my 2001 has a lot of chips from flying rocks)

I tried to read the brand name as I passed and it was either Rocker Flare or Rocker Guard.

The Taco driver took an exit ramp before I could glide over for another look. Has anyone else seen these? I've searched Google but have not found anything yet. I'd love to know where I could get some.

 

It might have been Rhino Lining on the rocker panels. We used to do them all the time on Tacoma's when I worked there.

 

Nope, it wasn't Rhino lining. (although I've though about using Rhino liners for this application)

It looked like it was made from the same material as a fender flare but it ran the length of the rocker panel from fender to fender. It also curled down toward the road and and said either Rocker Guard or Rocker Flare right near the front wheel opening.

These could be the ticket to prevent rock chips as they are slick looking.

 

I don't know about that bnd name but there is a set available for 3rd gens that Bushwacker makes, they come with the side cladding and Extend A Fender Flares. It's $500 for he whole set. It's a pretty sweet setup, kinda like the LTD fares and cladding, I have always thought that would be my next big puchase, to keep rocks and what not off my paint, after these backspaced wheels I have had lots of rock throwing problems. If you ever find out what you saw and they come out cheaper than the Bushwackers, let us know. Good Luck.

How much did it cost to have Rhino lining sprayed on as a rocker panel. I have been wanting to do that to my 87 4Runner for a long time.
