rs3200 security system unistall

Recently purchased a used 2000 4runner ltd and although i love it i absolutely hate the rs3200 security system the previous owner had installed extra when he originally bought the car. I was wondering if there was any way uninstalling this system without messing up the car. thanks...

lol yah. i really dont like how the horn honks when you lock/unlock and although it has some neat features i find that in the area i live are somewhat unnecessary. will a toyota shop do it and not charge an outrageous amount or is there a way where i can do it myself?

Unplug your horns and you're good to go. I can't remember the last time I honked my horn at someone...

I'm not sure how to un-install it but if you do get it uninstalled let me know, I may want to buy it!

my 98 4R ltd had the factory alarm in it when i purchased it used. it didn't work so i just unhooked it by taking the control unit out. its a black box located under the driver seat. i don't remember if their were harnesses and that though. i had an aftermarket alarm installed and everything works fine.

you can program the alarm to be silent when operating the lock/unlock.... it's how mine is setup.

here's an owner's manual with a simple google search:

Mine doesn't do the horn, it has the electronic "beep beep" which works sporadically. Its either a normal beep, a sick beep or nothing. Also I wish the remote worked more than 5 feet away. It has a new batt, I think it's just old...

Is it the rs3000 or rs3200? I know my 4runner has the rs3000, but its a 97. If you can verify which one I will try to help.

Tunnelmotor99, you just need a new piezo chirper. Any universal one should work.

Is the horn actually making the noise when you lock the car or is the car making a chirp noise? Are you looking to disable that noise or do you want to totally remove the system?

Yes the horn honks when i lock/unlock (along with chirp). At the very least i want the horn disabled for lock/unlock but if possible i wuld disable the entire system.

You actully have the RS3200 plus. This was a add on for the factory keyless entry that came standard on the limiteds. I found this install guide for a 2003 tacoma installing rs3200 plus. If these connectors are there it should be a simple unplugging will do the trick.

http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamo...rs3200plus.pdf

Here is a guide for a RS3200 install on a tacoma:

http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamo...stallation.pdf

See if these work it shouldn't take long to get the plastic trim pieces off.

That helps out alot. I was worried that the Tacoma rs3200 plus didnt have a glass breakage sensor shown. Now you can remove it and sell it to someone if you want.
