Question Rough Starting?

Hello all i am new to this forum and wanted to say hi.

I have a 2003 Ext Tacoma TRD. I have noticed that everyone once and a while it is starting very rough, like over 20secs of cranking before she starts. and i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. i use to think that it was a heat issue but the last time it did was at night and it was about 70 degrees out with min humidity. before it use to happen after i drove a decent distance and it sat out in the sun all day for like 8 hours and i tried to start it after work and it was humid out like 80% while it was like 80 degrees out. but now i am lost i have alittle over 5000 miles on it just got the oil changed.

Any help would be great

I used to have 2002 Taco Double-Cab V6 TRD 2x4 - same problem.

Sorry don't have a solution for you.

It's funny - yesterday I noticed a brand new double cab at work and as I was walking by it the driver was starting it - guess what? Same problem he was cranking it for a while before it started.

I only noticed this problem during HOT days though ...

happened to me a few times with my 02 taco before i hit 10k miles.

has not done it lately.

Seems to be normal since most taco owners experienced this quite a few times.

I would take it into the dealership. It's still got warranty. I don't care what anyone says, it's not normal for a brand new truck to take 20 secs to start no matter how hot outside it is.

That's my $.02.

THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS. TALK TO A SERVICE GUY AND HE SAID I NEED TO LEAVE MY TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO TROUBLE SHOOT. JUST WANTED TO SEE IF I COULD TAKE CARE OF IT WITHOUT HAVING TO LEAVE IT THERE.
WELL I HOPE THEY CAN TELL MORE THEN " YES IT DOES START ROUGH". BUT MOST LIKELY IT WILL NOT ACT UP FOR THEM.:pat:

I have a starting problem in my '95 Runner.

But its a little different....It's not like it takes forever to start, the engine will fire within a few seconds but once it does the RPM's are really low and it acts like it is going to stall. After hitting the pedal it's fine. I took it to the shop the other day...nothing, they ran everytest they had on the stupid thing and NOTHING. But it's cool cause they didn't charge for the diagnosing time.

I was pretty happy about that, but the starting problem is still there.

Let us know what the stealership says man!
