Rock Crawler Help
I've been searching for a while and haven't been able to find an answer that was what I needed.
Here's the story:
I have a '95 Runner that is totally stock, but this coming Monday I will be ordering some 1.5" HD Downey Coils for my rig. After that, my next purchase is going to be some black rock crawlers
If its no problem, could you send me some links to the best place to get them and a link to the right ones for me.
Also, how much would it cost to have my local tire place unmount my other tires from the stock wheels and then remount those tires on my new rims? I think they charge anywhere from like $40-45/hr.
I went to www.4wheelparts.com and saw some 15x8 Rock Crawlers:
Here are the specs on them - 15x8 5 or 6 lug w/3.75" backspacing
Does that sound right for my stock '95?
Thanks again guys!
The tires I am going to have mounted on them are listed in my sig below.
Thanks.

my local tire places charged me 7 bucks a tire for mounts and dismounts, but it was like 7 more after tax, rotating, balancing etc.
not sure where you live but it shouldnt be more the 60 bucks tops....
later
good luck!

Only 7 bucks a tire to mount and balance them? DANG!! That is MUCH better than what I was expecting.
I assume that 60 is per wheel and shipped right?
Cause on that site it said 42.99/tire
So is that backspacing correct or what? Thanks guys!
Keep the
comin'!

I'd probably check with Steve, but here's what he recommends on his site: http://fastq.com/~sschaefer/wheel.html

i could be wrong but stock backspacing is 3.75 i believe? and your wheels are 6 x 5.5 lug pattern also i think... i got 2" backspacing because i dont want to rub... but im going to be running 35" on a 1st gen. but i would says 6x5.5 w. 3.75 backspacing is same as stock. discount sells a brand called unique and they're cheap... go to your local discount/america's tire and check.. discounttires.com i think too

i got mine at discount/americas tire for like $45 a piece. just bought them so therye on their way. i've heard one bad review of "unique" as a company saying that their wheels were square but its a steel wheel so what do you expect? discount also sells american racing but theyre like $75 a piece. if you dont have a discount near you the ones that 4wp sells are fine

no, they shouldnt be.. but therye steel wheels, with the heat and all used to make them theyre gonna warp. some are gonna be worse than others... tech 1 makes the 4wp ones... unique makes discounts (discount also sells American Racing ones for like $75)

When someone says Rock crawlers, they "should" be referring to a specific brand. Tech1 is the only one that makes Rock crawlers.
Allied, American Racing, and Unique make black steel rims, that some people refer to as "Rockcrawler Clones." I think the actual Rock Crawlers may be stronger rims than the clones, since they were meant to be taken offroad. I don't think the other varieties can make such a claim. I got my Rock Crawler rims, mounted with BFG MT's, from 4wheelparts. I ordered them online, and got free shipping, which they seem to offer about once a month, so just bide your time, and wait for the free shipping, and you'll save some $$$.
