Retreads???
After downgrading my pickup to "occasional use," I was thinking about getting some more aggressive tires, possibly some retread m/ts from high-tec retreading.com. I was thinking they'd make sense if I didn't spend much time on the road, because if I busted one offroad they'd be much much cheaper to replace. The M/T style tire looks fairly aggressive, as well. They go for around$50 or so for a 31x10.5, half the cost of a new tire. I plan on using the VW as a daily driver so they would be used only to and from trails for the most part.

I can not comment on the more aggressive tread tire but.....I bought a set for my Nissan 300zx. At first I was not too sure about them, fearing that they would fly apart as I go down the road; but they were good tires at a great price. I drove them a few times up to 130mph with no ill effects.
From what I remember the about them the tread compound is softer because they used recycled rubber rather then virgin rubber and mix it with other compounds. So tread life may suffer?
The other factor was what the core tire itself was. If you started off with a better tire to begin with they held up better.
Off road could be a different story?

I was looking at these and I was going to buy a set.. ( I found those others for less so it was a mute point) Figure $270 shipped and about $40 to get them mounted & balanced.. I say go for it
I would look for the deleted messages in my recycle bin for you.. But I just noticed it is over 1500 messages (guess I should take out the trash Eh?)
