replaced my shocks yesterday

i replaced my shocks yesterday on my 98 4runner and i am going to say that is the best money i have ever spent. i bought the billies and i am using the stock spring for now. i had a hard time finding spring that are 1" taller than stock. i dont really want to lift my truck very much. the truck seems to sit higher now with the stock springs.? not really complaining it looks cool, and rides great. i have heard alot of people saying the bills are really stiff but these dont feel that stiff.

i ran into one problem when replacing the shocks bilstein sent me the wrong size nuts on the front shocks so i had to drive to the next town because apparently m12 1.5 is an odd size. the hardware store didnt have lock nuts in that size so i bought regular nuts and lock washers. when i installed the nuts i put serviceable locktite on the nuts just in case.

when i was finished i went wheeling and it is awsome. now i have to decide on what tires i am going to get.

Good stuff, I Just replaced my shocks w/ billies also. all I can say is NIGHT and DAY. my rig feels soooo much better than stock. Especially on the freeway, I haven't gotten a chance to try them off road yet but they are gona see some snow this weekend. whoa, so you threw the shocks in and hit the dirt right away? haha thats cool. but you should let em settle for a week or two, your gona feel the ride get better and better.

You can go w/ 99 springs that have one additional coil than your 98's or you can get PP springs from Performance Products that are 1" taller. Going this route will allow 265/75/16's w/o any rub. Otherwise, it's kinda hit and miss with this tire size for 3rd gens.

Also bamachem has his own setup that he created w/ TRD tundra springs, which give a little more than 1" lift. For some reason, my computer won't let me paste but search for bamachem and TRD front lift and you should find the thread.

This was a pretty decent thread on setups:

Here is the cat's meow front setup thread:

Yep,PP is the only company that carries those springs and they are made by H&R in Germany specifically for the Bils and that's why thye kinda have you over a barrel.
