removing guage cluster

I did a search and I could find anything...

I was wondering how the guage cluster was held in on my 1990 4Runner. It has a tach, if that helps! I took the dash apart, removed the 4 or 5 screws but it can't get it out. It there anything else that I need to remove? Any help would be great!!!

rest is friction fit.

i had to do this a few month ago. speedo cable melted...

be careful, there are 3-4 wiring harness the plugs into the back of the cluster. plus the speedo cable. and they are all short or no slack in them.

good thing is that each harness will only plug into the original and not the others.

then the whole cluster can come off. if you have any dash lights that are out (like my ECT PWR), get the bulbs from the dealer. actually bring the cluster. my dealer charged me $6 per bulb!!!!!!!!!!!!

then it's a good time to clean all the dust and dirt that got back there... lol.

then just reversed the process by screwing everything back in. btw, test out the gauges first by driving down your street to make sure you got everything plugged in and you have all lights working... dont ask why i know that...
