I've been piecing together my ome lift. I just bought the 890s yesterday... the last piece I needed. I will be running 881s up front, 890s in the rear, with tokico trekmasters all around. Not too extreme, but hopefully a nice riding modest lift.

 

I threw some 890s and 881's with the 3/4" toytec spacers on the front of my '98 runner a few weeks ago and love the results to this point. I'm not exactly sure of the lift I gained (didn't do a good measuring on a flat surface prior to install) but it sits surprisingly level.

I'm very happy with the handling, no more roll from side to side during turns and the nose doesn't dive into the ground when I hit the brakes.

I also threw on a 1" body lift so I could fit 285s. I just got the front bumper raised up and the front bumper valance back on it Sunday. Still gotta trim that valance a bit but I'm very happy so far!

 

I have 881's with the Toytec spacer up front, and 890's out back. I still have the stock shocks so my ride stiffened up a bit but not over-bearing. Although i was disappointed to not get the 3" lift I wanted, I really like my runner with this set-up and Toytec was awesome to deal with!

Here is a picture of my 4Runner with the lift and 265/70/r16's.

 

OK so at the front im just a hair above 36' and in the rear i sit just under 37.5. This is how it stands.

that is most helpful in helping me visualize where the body with the lift added correlates to the middle of the tire rim. That helps me to 'see' how the tires will clear the fenders and trim and mudflaps.

I really appreciate the input from everyone-I was thinking I would get no inputs and then a little bump and look what got going. The more I read the more choices I see....

 

Please let me know which setup you go with. I have been piecing my setup together slowly and so far I have a pair of OME-N86C. I am curious to see which springs you go with. Thanks.

i have the 883's up front and LOVE THEM i have them stacked with the toytec top plate spacer and they give me about 3.5in of lift and ride good. i have the longer 8.5 coil rear springs and my ride is smooth. and it gives me enough lift to clear 35's with no body lift and just a little pinch weld hammering. i didn't think you were thinkin about that much lift or i would have mentioned it. lol

here is a pic of my runner with the 35's and 883's with the toytec spacer but with 890's and a 1.5 coil spacer in the rear (before i got the land cruiser springs)

Keep in mind this guy has an ARB bumper up front with maybe a winch in the future. I'd say 882's (or those 883's), but that's just me.

I have picked OME881s and 891 for front and rear springs respectively.

I yielded to peer pressure (that's my excuse so far) and am going with OME shocks all around. N91s for the front and N86 in back.

I hope you all see my point that the combinations are endless.

If you see me scooting around Denver with my butt sticking up in the air then we will have some issues. At least one poster has said my combo is not a good one, while others have shown me photos that look just fine. We shall see!

I can do photos now so I will take some good shots in the garage of before and after with tape measure in view. Irbis gets the install duties- I may have to save up a paycheck or six to do that.

Do not be saying "you can do this" I am the one who struggled with the deckplate mod-that's me

I checked everywhere sirs, I hold the tightest squeezed dollars this side of the Arkansas River-the boyz at trdparts4u.com blow everyone else out of the water on price. Even with freight it is no contest.

now I gotta start on some trd actual mods....

 

Yep... just got them in the mail today. Hopefully I'll put them on this weekend.

Why go with 881s and a spacer and not 882s alone?

What else did you have to do to get away with that much lift?

 

Not as rigid/stiff ride? I was thinking the 881s would be a bit softer than the 882s but I didn't completely research things. Would the 882s have the same ride qualities with higher lift than the 881s? I was told the 882s would have been very stiff with no weight up front (aftermarket bumper, winch, etc).
