thanks 4biker-I considered the tall 99s but it seems any Toyota stock spring is going to suffer sag over some time.

brian2sun-thanks I get your point now and have added 861s to the original posting-appreciate that

ANY spring will sag over time. Not just Toyota springs.

thanks guys for keeping the thread going.

We did select Old Man Emu 906 springs for my friend's 01 Limited. This was an easy swap in with no spring compressors necessary. The height of the 906s was almost an exact match to the removed 01 stock rear springs.

Mad props to shawn st cyr for some real time help as we were doing battle. Unbolting the rear shock mount on both sides gave us all the room we needed to manhandle out the old springs and insert the new ones into place.

Yeah, the 906's are great springs, and they are easy to get in. They are a little more firm than stock springs, but I love mine. I just moved a 350lb chiropractic table 340 miles last week, and the 4runner handled the load just fine (except for the headwind and hills ) Next your friend will want the comfort shocks f&r, and then mud terrain tires, and then she'll be one of us.

More bumping...I have a question.

My front end (tall '99 coils with Bilstein HD [blue/yellow] shocks) is sagging pretty good now that my full BudBuilt skid plate setup has been back on for a while. I think the skids weigh about 150-160 lbs.

My rump sits just fine, and rides great but while I used to just have 1" of rake...now with the sagging front...I have 2".

My question is this: if I want to leave the rear alone (currently sits at 38" ground to fender with 265/75R16's), which OME spring is my best option for a good ride and handling the extra 150lbs...along with being the correct height to match the rear?

Seems like 881's wouldn't be tall enough after they sag a little. Or will they sag?
Seems like 882's might be just right...IF they sag a little.
Seems like 883's might be too stiff....since it is only 150lbs extra.

Basically I need a coil that will support the extra 150lbs, ride good on-road (my off-roading just consists of dirt roads....no flexing), give me a 37"-38" ground to fender height, and not sag over time any lower than that.

882's?

881 would correct your weight but also give you 1" of lift over the 1999 height. 880 would give the same lift but be overloaded and sag over time. 882 is for 300 pounds.

Just replacing the stock 1999 coil with the correct Tundra TRD coil would do what you are asking. Correct for just the weight you added.

way back in the first post there was the idea of not wanting to do a diff drop.
my question is why not? there pro's cons?

even if your staying 2-3" lift I thought it was a good thing with no ill effects.

Just be sure to get a extended length traction bar from Sonora steel if you use the 890s or 891s because the stock trac bar is too short and will push your rear axle to the side and cause your shocks to break at the top bracket.[/quote]

so how important is the trac, bar if I am going with 882/890's.

Thanks Steve. I didn't think Tundra coils would fit the spring perches and top hats of the 4runner style struts? I'm not against replacing the struts, but my Bilstein HD's are still in good shape and ride nice....so re-using them is smart for me cost wise.

Exclamation Coil spacer

here is a pic of my runner with the 35's and 883's with the toytec spacer but with 890's and a 1.5 coil spacer in the rear (before i got the land cruiser springs)

and here is one with that same setup with 33's

What type of coil spacer did you use to fit the rear?
