A POS is a POS, doesn't make a difference who made it. It stinks all the same.

I asked the service dept at my local dealer last week and they didn't have any additional info to offer. He didn't know when the notices would be mailed.

Same here, had the truck at the dealer last week and they don't have any info yet, and they can't run the VIN to check eligibility.

That's great, my 4Runner is in the range, but the dealer is of no help since they won't run the VIN, always falling back on the "you'll get a letter from Toyota" excuse.

My question is: what if you didn't buy your truck new? How will Toyota send you a letter if they don't have you in the records like they do whenyou buy a new car?

This is what pi$$es me off about dealers: they're eager to take your money but when it comes to recall work you have to jump through hoops to get them to even lift a finger!

You can call Toyota at 800-331-4331 to find out if you're truck is part of the recall.

I bought my Taco in March, the recall came out in what May or June?, the dealer did the recall last week for me! Wow, that's service with a smile!
They called me up and said bring it in, ball joints replaced and an alignment!
That's an outstanding dealer! You don't see too many of them!

Nice, I wish all the dealers were that responsive. You probably had the good fortune of having recently bought the truck so your records were still fresh with the dealer when the notices came in.

I did my first two ball joint recalls last week, 1 04 taco, and 1 02 4-run both 2wd. Pretty easy job just the lower ball joints. Checked toe before and after and still the same. Job pays 1.2hr for R&R lower ball joints and check toe, and 2.6 R&R BJ and alignment.

My '01 (9053218) doesn't appear to be in the recall range. Not sure whether that's good or bad. A new set of lower ball joints and free alignment would have been nice at 55K...
