rear squeaks

i'm just gonna throw this out there and see what y'all think..

there's a sqeak coming from the back of my runner and it sure is annoying. i first noticed it in a parking garage a couple weeks or so ago. now it seems a little more persistent, and i could hear it on the freeway coming home from work tonight. i tried replicating it by just rocking the runner when parked, but it doesn't happen then. everything appears to be looking alright when i looked underneath, but what do i know.

not sure if this is related, but the rear brakes squeak real bad too. i really hear it when backing out of the garage, or moving forward slowly. 15000 miles ago they were checked and were reported to have 80% life left so i don't know what's up...

chuck,

this might not be it, but this might be it

i had this crazy ass squeaking sound coming from the back of the 4runner. everytime i hit a bump at high speeds, it would squeak squeak!

and then one day my friend gets into the back of my 4runner, hears some squeaking, and grabs the back seat and slams it into place. no squeaks.

turns out, the seat was barely latched and thus, the seat's locking mechanism was making the squeaking sound.

My truck did the same thing, the rear end squeaked like crazy while I was driving. Annoyed the crap outta me. One day I was washing my truck and decided to spray underneath it to clean off the mud and whatnot.....sure enough the squeak dissapeared

Maybe try a few shots of WD40 on the shock bushings, wipe off the excess and try to torque the shocks up a bit.

I had a problem simular to that with my cargo cover and the brackets that it fit into...but that was more of a rattle.

Lube everthing...that usually works.

I had that exact same problem.

I would check to make sure the spare tire is secure. You've got a pretty new vehicle so I wouldn't think any bushings would be bad on it but you never know.

Too me it sounds like the bearing in your rear U-Joints, had the same thing, sqeaking when gowing, more loud when going slow and in reverse. Put a new u joint in and fixed it, and it was the bearing that had exploded in the u joint.

Brake dust maybe?

I had some squeaking before and I think it was just old dust and dirt in the leaf packs. It went away with some liberal WD40

washed it and went to town with the wd40. that little squak seems to be gone, but the rear brakes are still squaking real bad. not every single time i break, but backing out out of the driveway again today i sure did hear it.
