Question Question about a Stealership

Hey guys,
I took my Runner for a head gasket recall and some other minor stuff. On the phone they've told me that the whole process would take about 3-4 days. I took it in on December 30. Then, they've told me that they have to order some parts and it's going to take longer then expected. They said that Friday 1/9 is the latest, and now they're saying that it's going to be ready on the following Tuesday. I didn't get a rental, cuz I'm not 21 y/o yet.

Do you think I should get some kind of discount? If yes, then who should I talk to about it?

Thanks,
Alex

I didn't get a rental car either. I think mine took about 4-5 days.

OK, I'll talk to the manager on Monday. What discount should I ask for? What range of discounts is possible to get from them for returning a car later than promissed?

Thanx

I think it depends on the dealer and the person you talk to...I remember when I got my 30k mile service interval done they had to order some part and it took 2 days longer. I know one of the guys that works there so that may have helped, and plus I go in there just about everyother day to just "shoot the ˟˟˟˟˟" with them about new parts and whats goin...but, the Service Manager gave me a coupon for 2 free hours of labor...pretty good deal in my opinion given that their labor charge is $75/hr.

Just my $.02, let us know what deal they try to make with ya or excuses they make.

Tell them you want it all for FREE! I love telling them that! Then I just say "Fugg you weenies, let me use your tools... I'll have it done in no time!" The stealership needs more of that kind of abuse.

I'm back.

Just got my truck back. Runs better, but there is a small noise from under the hood on the right side (where the battery is) and it smells like something is burning for a couple of seconds when I shut off the engine. I guess I'll have to take it back to the stealership tomorrow to get it checked out.

Oh yah, almost forgot....they didn't give me a discount for being late on returning my truck. They said that because they had to order the parts it's not their falt.

Well, anyways....I'll keep you guys posted.

well they can only give u an estimate then they have to go from there if they did need extra parts.. but they should still make you aware they are gonna need the truck for a few more days and offer some kind of solution such as a dealer car or somethin.. all those sales ˟˟˟s can drive all day cuz its a "demo" but you cant right..

well, there is an update for you guys. Truck still runs the same (maybe only 1-2 hp gain). It's a bit quieter, but still has a little knocking noise when I push the gas pedal.
Yesturday, I've noticed a dark spot under my truck. It's oil licking from underneath the truck. And it's kind of bad. It was parked for only 20-30 minutes and the spot was about 5 inches long. I've called the dealership and explained the problem, and they said that there is a chance that I'll have to pay for the repairs if they find it to be my fault (note: when I originally brought my rig to them there was NO oil leak from under the truck!!!). Well, I guess we'll see what happens.

I had the same exact thing happen to me. It probably the front main seal and if the truck has a lot of miles on it, the new seal they'll put on won't seal properly becuase of the wear. They need to use a sleeve there and then apply the seal. That's what they did on mine and they did it for free so if you have any problems, let me know and I'll send you my reciept

Yea, I agree that it's probably a main seal, cuz it looks like the oil is coming right where the engine meets the tranny. And since they had to take the whole engine off when they did the HG recall last week, it's probebly their fault. Well, I'll keep you guys posted.
