the prerunner model is a 2wd that looks like a 4wd. only bad thing is that you can't get it with a manual transmission for some reason :wtf:

According to what I've read...
Ivan Stewart would take a look at the track before his races and "pre-run" them with a lesser truck. Not his race truck but with one that had similar suspension, clearance, etc.

So the Prerunner is essentially a 4x4 without the 4x4. Same everything except for the front drive.
At least to my knowledge...

Technically it is a vehicle that is used to pre-run a race course. But now it basically means a desert style truck (could be 2wd or 4wd but typically 2wd) that is built to fly through the desert at high speed.

Exactly! Basically the built up ones are street legal race trucks. Check out www.chaosfab.com that does mostly fabrication of Toyota long travel kits. The overall winner of the MDR 1450 class this year was using Total Chaos uniball long travel in the front.

Check out these pics of a nice 4wd Prerunner style 4Runner. It's supercharged and extremely fast over most any terrain in our local deserts. It just floats over the rough stuff. I think he's selling the same setup as a kit, includes everything but the S/C, but it's not cheap. He's sold 4 out of the 5 kits he's made.

Where is rialto? That first truck, the gunmetal grey one in video two looks like this one I saw cruising through coronado california one time. I though he looked ridiculous with the front wheels 1 foot outside where his rears were and without and visible lift in clearance... but if he is doing that

Oh and if you can't tell from my avatar to the left, I LOVE prerunner trucks, they look so darn cool!

Rialto is somewhat east of LA. It's in the Rancho Cucamonga area. www.prerunners.com puts on the events there.
