The first 2 are taken from last year; the last 2 are from today. Standard OME setup with 882's up front and 891's in the rear (with firm shocks front and back and RB diff drop). The ride is excellent - the extra weight of the bumper, winch, skid plates, cargo box, etc really smooths it out (in fact, I wouldn't mind it a little firmer).

Without Yotatech, I don't know how I would have figured out which lift was best for me....thanks guys;

4runner4life: I estimate the OME setup gave me around 3 inches (still too early to see if settling will be an issue but I can always use some trimpackers later) - no vibration issues or negative driving effects (although I only have about 1 inch of space between the top of the rack and my garage door LOL); the tires are 265/75/16 TrXus M/T's.

Nitro: I really like the M/T's - they are heavily lugged yet surprisingly quiet on the street. I found they excel in deep snow and mud, however, as expected, they lack on ice even with siping. I took the 4runner off-road last week-end with my winter tires (Michelin Arctic Alpins) - I ended up getting stuck several times in snowbanks that my M/T's would have crawled over - after having to winch twice I decided to put the M/T's back on.

The M/T's super stiff sidewalls really cuts down on sway when towing my travel trailer. On older roads with "grooves", I found I was being thrown a little bit with the Arctic Alpins but the M/T's resist those depressions. Also, funny thing, the M/T's have attracted the most comments from people - even non-off-roaders.

I had these tires on a 95 Trooper in 285/75/16. It was a love hate relationship. They were wearing down pretty fast, but I smoked the heck out of them climbing the trails in Gilmer, TX. I'm guessing I would have got less than 30K (maybe) out of them if I hadn't sold the Trooper. They started really quiet on the street, but it didn't take much wear and they were howling pretty loud. They have super thick (8 ply?) sidewalls with some really wicked sidewall tread so they are really tough offroad, and they air down really good. Drawback, they are REALLY heavy, my gas mileage, braking, and accelleration tanked, I blame the weight of these tires more than the diameter.
anyway, that my 2 cents on the trXus. Offroad- Awesome (better and tougher than most MT's, On road- tolerable for an agressive MT (better than a swamper or a bogger) but lots of other MT's probably have better road manners, even without the siping.

 

If you dont mine me asking, what was the total price of lift/installation, or did you install it yourself?

ALTN8R - the tires are American Racing Outlaw II's - the wheel size is 16x8. I'm not sure about the exact backspacing but I think it is 4.45 inches (I had the local Tirecraft order them in and make sure they fit). I have not had any contact issues with the rims. It should be noted that I did not have any tire rubbing with the 265/75/16 TrXus on my stock 16x7 rims, however, when I changed to the 16x8 Outlaw II's, I was forced to hammer down the pinch weld and pound some of the fender liner (but that was due to tire contact and not rim-contact).

awoods - the OME setup (coils and springs) was about 1,000 canadian (including 7% GST). The set-up was cheaper in the U.S. but the hassle of importing items is really starting to get to me so I just had the local 4x4 shop order them in. Installation was about $400 canadian at the same shop. I could have saved some money by doing it myself but frankly, I wasn't crazy about messing with the springs, etc. Also, my local 4x4 shop did the bumper, winch, lockers, etc so they know my vehicle. Total cost was about $1,492. (and took about 4 hours).

Adhoo7 - I agree with your comments about the weight - those bloody tires are heavy !! Since this is only my second season with them, I can't comment on the wear issue. Also, this is my first set of aggressive M/T's, so I don't have a lot to compare them to regarding the sound (to be honest, the sound doesn't bother me - it blends in with the whine of the supercharger and the sound of the hi-flow cat and exhaust. However, once the windows are rolled up, I can still carry on a conversation with normal tones and the radio on low).
