that is a lucky lad.

My son will be lucky to get the Mr2, when I am dead, it is so much fun to zip around in. Just kidding- it would not be running without his help.

Would love to see a photo of the dueling Basslinks

Ron, I cannot promise you anything but I will do my best to get a picture on the site. I have to remember how to upload them. What I would really like to share is the way I created a bracket system to angle the subs diagonally. That worked really well. This is my busy season so I am in high gear with work. Have a good weekend.

no more need for a photo host yippee!

ahh let me be the bearer of good news then manymods. No photo host is required any longer... you simply grab the photo off your hard drive. Down below the post in the section "Manage Attachments" click on that...

This has made me able to share my photos at last and here is yet another not particularly related to anything but fine Colorado scenery...

Dueling Basslinks

Hi Ron, thanks for the 'how to' information.

Okay, here's a pic of the two subs. I want to draw your attention to the 1x1/4" pieces of aluminum bar stock under the brackets used to stabilize the units. I taped Velcro (hook) tape to the bar stock to prevent the units from sliding around. What I cannot show you now is the adjustable legs I made so that I can adjust and angle the units up to a ~45 degree angle pointing up. That aluminum bar stock is an integral part of that bracket setup along with turnbuckles. I know that does not give you a good visual of how it works. If I go back to that setup I will post a picture but for now it's disassembled.

Ok, sorry about the pictures being of low quality, but they are with the cell phone and I really didnt have the motivation to whip out the DSLR.

As you can see... its a box. It's not pretty, but its heavy duty, and has ugly carpet. On the top I have a huge 'Mexico' blanket, which holds a shovel and bow saw, on the left side i have a maglite mounted and a bag with a tow strap, on the right is a space to throw the HD chains (seasonal of course). I'm still contemplating mounting a hi-lift to it as well. It sits flush with the back seat to take minimal footprint, and I designed the box right to the subwoofer volume spec. I would have pictures of the woofers themselves, but as I mentioned before, its locked down with steel cables. The small cutout you can see from the seatback picture is where the cable eyes come together at a padlock. It's not goin anywhere... The last picture shows the small amount of clearance between the woofers and ground. The maglite gives a bit of a size reference. Keep in mind that surrounding rubber is not at the level of the cone. The cone itself still clears with plenty of space even at full excursion (tested at high gain, horrible rap music, and a rattling license plate).

truly down firing woofers as you said.

Very unique-I would venture most people don't even realize there are woofers in there. Nicely done rideexilieex -those photos work fine.

If anyone wants a JL Qlogic box and sub i have one! It fits on the passenger side and goes in the side pocket and around the wheel well. I don't need it seeing how i got a couple JL W7 12's in the back now!

Just wanted to give my "input" on powered sub inputs, or any amp. I'm talking about using speaker-level inputs. Try to avoid using them! Why? Feedback. Whenever a speaker moves, it generates a "back-voltage". Put 2 and 2 together and you can see how this can severely degrade sound quality.

Check this out... On one of my very first "systems" I used the speaker level inputs. Got it all hooked up and it sounded decent. Then I shut the car off, which shut the stereo off. Then I closed the trunk. The air pressure from closing the trunk was enough to move the speakers in the rear deck. That generated a voltage which turned on the amp because of the auto-on feature. When the amp turned on, it made a thump through the subs. And caused a chain reaction which sent the trunk lid into a vibrating frenzy. All without any power going to the rear deck. 2+2=4.
