When you say signal is lost, what signal are you losing? Crank position? Spark?

Under WOT conditions it should go closed loop and use reference data from the ECU. Anything less than WOT and it will use all the sensor data, TPS, MAF, O2, etc.

Do you have any CEL?

99 4runner power loss

signal loss from tach that would be spark. the light from the tach is not visible. plus when it is hooked to the computer there are no codes during any position of the throttle.

This is something to consider:

I've got a feeling mine may need a new crank gear so i'll plan on replacing it when the timing belt is done...let us know if you find the issue
Good luck!
