Popping when Turning
I did searches and it seems that a few people have had the same problem as me, but I didn't see any definate answers.
When I turn my wheel all the way to the left or the right I hear and feel a poping noise. It only does it once unlike the normal clicking when a CV joint is bad and the vehicle has to be moving. My sway bar bushings are new, one CV joint is new and the other has seemed to be in good shape with the original boot. Has anybody figured out what this noise is? Sugestions.

I used to have a 2nd gen 4runner that the stops made noise. I believe the 3rd gens don't have the same setup and it isn't the same sound.

Make sure you are not in 4WD when you cut really hard.
Mine does it too but just in 4WD.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the swaybar bushings. Although you said they are new, shoot some lithium grease on them to lube them up a bit and see if that takes care of the noise.

Hey,
Ditto what cubuff4runner and Goose said, It might be your steering bumpstops. My '90 4Runner used to make some loud popping sound when turned all the way to the left or right. You should have 2 bumpstops on either side. They are plastic caps that just get pressed on the end of a couple of screws (or whatever you want to call those). If these fall off or wear off, then your "screw" is just hitting part of the frame making a loud noise. I replaced all 4 of mine for less than $20 and no more noise.
Anyhow, hope that helps,
Have fun.

It pops in 2WD and 4WD. Any road conditions and at slow speeds because I think cranking the wheel as far as it will go at any other speed would lead to .
