I'll put it through the "Philly Process" (place it between layers of paper towels and stand on it to get out the excess oil) when I get home tonight.
Cool!

Did you get one for the Pre-Runner, too?

Not yet, I'll see how I like this one first. The Pre-Runner takes the same TS-115 filter.

Good Times

Goodtime, your on the ball man... The TRD part number for the 1998-Current LC matches the TRD part number for the '03 4-Runner. Good call. Going to check Amsoil's site now. Thanks !

Amsoil doesn't have one yet. I don't mind spending an extra $20 if the TRD is as good as the Amsoil. If the Amsoil is a better filter, then I will wait.
I'm after better MPG, the performance is fine as far as I'm concerned.

True, you probably won't notice a difference with _just_ the filter. The air box is starved for air already, so a free-flow filter alone won't help because there's nothing more to flow!

If you don't feel like cutting up your air box, you can get an idea of what you'll see by doing the elbow mod. Pulling 3 bolts and 2 screws will get more air to the box and you _will_ feel the difference. The deck plate mod will get _more_ ("max"?) air into the box and that will be even more noticable.

Past that... do the silencer ("ISR") mod.

mpulver:

You do the ISR mod on an '03 and then tell me how to do it. As for the elbow mod, as far as I know (and read) it doesn't apply to the '03. Of course, I am not a "car guy" so I may be wrong.

Ahh... good point, this has come up before. I didn't notice that nags was running a 2003.

Never mind then - someone else needs to look at an '03, I don't have any access to one.

(heh... there's a side thought... Head down to the dealer and try to get some quality time under the hood. )
