Question Quick Question

I have a quick question....well, actually 2. First, the clear plastic cover over my in-dash gauges has been cracked on my 1997 Limited 4Runner and I am curious as to where I could order a replacement and maybe a how-to on the installation. Also, I would like to replace the sun visors with the factory vanity visors and I don't know where to find these or about the installation either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

im pretty sure you could get the clear plastic part for the gauges. i steped on my brothers honda one before and ordered a new one from the dealer for $12... my friend has a 80 yota and got a sr5 gauge cluster from ebay, and as i was lookin at it, it seemed like the clear part could snap off of it.

the visors... try the dealers. usually, the yota dealers carry parts or can get the parts for you... however sometimes they're kinda pricy for wat they are... but thats how dealers are

a how-to? ... hm... never done it before. just look for screws around the area you want to dismantle and start unscrewing! hehe jk

someone else should know

good luck!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm guessing your best bet for both the instrument cluster cover and the vanity-light visors would be either a junk yard or a dealer. Junk yard should be considerably less than new from a dealer. Just call up one close to you and see if they have it or can get it. Most "auto recycle centers" belong to some type of nation-wide parts finder service.

As far as how-to's, try doing a search on here. Anyone who has replaced their guages with indiglos or other aftermarket gauge overlays would have asked the same question...

Thats all I can think of for now. Good Luck!

There's a complete write up in the tech section on how to take the instrument cluster apart on a 3rd Gen.
