Psssssssssttttttttttt... Lookie what I just tripped over:

http://www.bobblick.com/techref/proj...sim/o2sim.html

The lead-in is here:
http://www.bobblick.com/techref/proj.../o2sensor.html

Bottom line, it's an oscillator used to fake the O2 sensor signal so that you can adjust the closed loop tuning. It _replaces_ the O2 sensor, not just pggybacks it.

If you wanted to do that the SMT6 does that already ....

It doesnt really talk about open and closed loop and how the thing switchs it into open loop....unless i miss read something...which would not surprise me...

Sorry to change gears for a second guys, but I have a question: Is it somewhat accurate to use the AFR % on the SMT at WOT? I was out retarding my timing again the other day, when I decided to look closer at this feature. While in second gear at about 2K, I floored it and took it almost to redline. Most of the time the AFR was in the low 14's. I assume that's pretty good if the SMT is accurate. Thoughts?

Ummm, man it's been a while. The SMT is hooked up to the O2 output, right? If so, then yeah, it should be accurate.

But if that's accurate, then you're running LEAN - WOT A/FR should be 12.5:1 - 11:5:1. The sweet spot will vary based on a number of things, but 14:1 is too lean.

and! (here's a segue for ya'!) check your email at cox.net, I bought 370's, so the 305's can be yours.

Doh! No more LEAN! OK cool, I will check my email right now. BTW, I will be up there July 15 thru July 23.

I am thinking about making another "get together" post. Maybe this one will work better.

Let's take it over to email Mark. But the answer to your question is 9:30AM. My parents would kill me if I took off on that day unfortunately.

Oh, my wife would too.

Woot party!

I wouldnt trust the afr ont he screen..you have to keep in mind that the narrow band does not show the true values...i have tested this against my wideband and when i was at 11:1 the smt6 read 14 then 10 then 13 tghen 11... to random...

did you install a wideband sensor? im pretty sure the 96's use a narrowband o2 sensor which at WOT is useless for determining a/f ratios
