painted wheel opinion...my turn
ok so my 80 wheels are startin to get all scuffed up and i managed to tear one centercap right off on my last outing
so i kinda entertained the thought of painting/coating em in a flat gun metal grey, similar to the colour of my flares. so..whaddya think?
how it is now:

chopped. i dont want it a shiny finish...so imagine a bit more flat:

i like the way the shiny machine finish makes em stand out amongst the sea of black...but ive always been a sucker for gun metal grey wheels. oh btw the rear bumper is chopped
so if i do choose to repaint em, it will definitely be after i get my rear bumper built.

I think it would look good with all that black. I think a grayish black would be kinda nice, more toward the black side but not as black as a flat black would probably look good.

I think the gun metal looks very cool. Your rig and mine look very simular other than your limited flares and color of course. I am looking at doing a rear bumper next also . I want a rear tire carrier for my LC spare/285.
Looks good.
Looks good.

one more vote for gun metal.
Have you seen the Mojave teflon wheels? I want to copy that same color on my wheels. I wonder if they sell teflon spray paint. That would give you the matte/no bling style you're looking for, but with a smooth, easy to clean finish.

From what I understand, teflon is applied after the paint, and it is a pretty high temperature application. (500-600 degrees.) I have searched and havn't found a paint that contains teflon. The closest thing is a "spray-on" teflon that stays on for a short time. I think that either Miguier's makes it, or DuPont.

Who has mad photshop skills and wants to turn the truck sunfire red with silver limited trim and then pick me a color. If my polishing exercise does not go well, I am thinking of a high gloss silver kinda like the 5 star OEM rims.

hey thanks for your opinions guys...and i agree the gunmetal gives it that mean look. once the rear bumper gets built, there wont be any need for bling...as they say "chrome dont getcha home" haha.
oh and i got the cool guy decals over @ streetgraphics.net surprisingly he was local, so i paid under cdn$25 shipped. he can do any colour combo you want too. its a clear, and not die cut though.
