This of course means that my 1994 SR5 V6 pickup is for sale. It'll be sad to see it go.

Some Heads up.

Take of hte flat cross bars ont he roof rack. Theres 3 of htem. It makes washing a million times easier. Seems 505 of the truck's dirt ends up under those.

Make sure your radio is off when wheeling. It dosent take much to break that antenna.

Thanks for the complements. I paid $17,000 for the truck and an additional $600 for a 24 mo/30k mile warranty. I know it's a Toyota but without maintenance records I have no idea how well it's been cared-for. This truck was such a rare find; it has everything I wanted except it lacks a sunroof.

Gangus--you are right about the roof rack--it's a real mess up there around the cross bars. I will likely be removing the entire thing and replacing it with a Yakima setup. I need to be able to carry kayaks and bikes, what is the best route to go?

Steve--I looked at Xterras and it was basically a toss-up between the two. I liked the Xterra's engine (265 hp), rear disc brakes and the fact that it's brand new, but I liked the Toyota's appearance, stronger rear diff (Xterra has a Dana 44), and it is more luxurious and proven than the X. Both are great vehicles.

i really cant believe how terrible they are... i swapped out everything and added a new amp and sub, and i love how awesome it sounds now.

 

The sound system does leave a lot to be desired. Not to mention the CD player doesn't work (knew this when I bought it).

What is the name of the package that includes the larger fender flares and the e-locker? Is it a Highlander or just the 'sport package'? And why does my 4Runner not have the cool 5-spoke wheels? I will be buying those ASAP.

The X-terra gets the 265 hp from a supercharger.....for $2300 you can match or better that number on yours.

 

yours is an sr5 with the upgraded flares thats all... its not a sport.

yours has the base wheels.. are they 16 inchers?

 

The new Xterra is a true 265hp NA motor,you're thinking of the older versions and those only had 215hp with the charger.

How can you tell a sport from the others?

 

a sport will have color keyed bumpers and a hood scoop.

I carry a twin kayak using the stock rack using Mightymounts. I added Yakima Hullyrollers on the back and Mako sadles in the front (get the cloth patches if you have a fiberglass kayak). It works fine, but a yakima towers that go in the rails and bars might be stronger. For longer trip I would like if the rack was longer and I might add one bar over the front doors to get this.

I am able to fit this and drive into my garage. Something to consider before you put a high rack on you truck.
