Overseas fender flares

I really like the look of the fender flares that 4Runners came with overseas.

Anyone know where we can get some? I'm not crazy about the aftermarket ones that force you to remove the stock rear mud flaps. I like the way these stay above the lines of the rear bumper extensions.

The bushwackers extend down the rear bumper extension. Most people are using truck rear mud flaps. Other than that, yes the stock Toyota and Bushwacker look the same. Someone posted a pic of bushwackers they had trimmed to fit around the stock rear mud flap that way they could keep them.

He is a member here, and that is his rig.
Very nice looking rig indeed.

Everytime I see his or Lee's 2nd gen, I keep getting snorkel envy

The cheap & easy way.

The Photoshopped way.

In the 2nd pic you will see fender flares with running boards.
We had just got done putting on the flares whne the pic was taken, and there are no endcaps on the running boards.

The boards came off a few days later for the Smittybilt nerfs I ran for awhile

I don't think they came stock with them but it is a very popular upgrade just like the big bumpers and roof racks.

I picked his since it has the clearest picture. There are also a couple of guys from Down Under in the reader's rides area that I could have used but Bundubasher definately has the clearest pics.

You can get one here: http://www.central4wd.com/store/itemdetail.asp?ID=4542

It wasn't offered by the factory but if you drive in deep water or want that outback look its pretty cool.

Hey Corey,

The first picture of your snorkel is pretty funny and I bet you saved a lot of money for that huh!

For 269.00 bucks at Central 4WD, this snorkel is not bad for that price and it will definitely give you an Outback look.

My question is: Can water get in the intake while cruising on the highway when it is raining hard?

Just by looking at the picture, looks like the front skidplate was modified too.

I read an in depth explanation of snorkels once. They aren't supposed to let water into the engine since water is heavier than air it will collect on the outside walls of the tubing and then be diverted to a drain. If you live in a dusty area there is a prefilter that can be installed on top of the snorkel in place of the stock fitting and that should prevent water getting in too. I figure they have some major monsoons in Australia so if they say it won't gulp water I believe them.
