Dealerships have a bunch of ways to fleece some $$ from the buyer. The glass on most new vehicles is factory etched with security numbers. For a fee they will "register" them for you. So save the fee, write down the numbers (it's not the Vin on any of my vehicles) and if it's ever stolen give the numbers to the cops.

"SUPERCHARGED"! The stripes run down all three sets of windows on each side. The previous owner spent a bundle on this Runner. It is a 2000 that I bought in Sept. of 2004 and only had 34,000 miles on it. I paid a little over HALF of what he paid for it new.
And yes, the first owner got raped on the cost of etching. Anyone can buy etching materials at a Hobby Lobby for under $20 and do it themselves.
