Opinion of 97 Runner I might buy - Help

Hey guys,

Can you please look at this listing and tell me what you think? The owner is asking $5000 and it seems like the brakes are low and he just got a CEL which he will service before selling. What do you guys think about the truck and the price?

Like paul said, if the info is correct, you might try offering 4750..? Looks reallly nice... Make sure to inspect the underside and frame to make sure that "accident" is really what happened or not...

I just paid 5K for mine and its an sr5 with 145K. I would jump on it, but I would want to be the one who took it to the mechanic for the CEL. Those are too easy to override for a day or two just to sell the car. Make sure you know what code it threw.

My brakes are a little soft also, don't know if that's a 4runner thang or not, but haven't had any problems with them.

If you pay 5K for it and don't like it I'll trade ya LOL.

Yeah, the price seems good for the condition.....but myself being in the business of sales, price can always be negotiable.

I say go for it!

By "brakes are low", do you mean pads/shoes are ready to be replaced, or the pedal seems to go down low before the brakes engage. If the pedal is going low, chances are the back brakes are out of adjustment. Common problem on 4Runners, and very easy fix (if that's the problem). I agree with ericdg16. I'd want to be there when the codes are pulled to see what the problem is that's generating the CEL. I'm all about trusting people... but I always verify what I can myself too.
