Do the old man emu and the downeys provie the same amout of lift?

The $69 is probably per coil. Downeys comes with both coils, and some other goodies. I'll let somebody else chime in on that.

 

Yeah, the OME price is per coil. I got about 2.5" or so out of my OME's, on my badly sagging rear end. I knew I needed more than 1.5" of lift, like the Downey's, and I was kind of counting on the OME's to give me more than that, and they did! I couldn't be happier with my choice of OME over Downey. Not that Downey is bad in any way.

 

Ive had the downeys 1.5's and the allpro's and the downeys were downright scary the rear end did what ever it wanted. the allpro's are more stable even with the swaybar disconnected. Ive nevr used ome's but my cruiser guys love them.

 

So what does the OME come with, just the coil? Just wondering about drop brackets and such. Whats the cheapest place you've found?

 

When you order the OMEs you get the coil only. The 3.5" HD Downeys (which gave me 2.5" of lift) I first installed came with the coils, Rancho limiting straps w/ mounting tabs, and an e-brake bracket. It does not come with anything to drop/level your panhard. I use a panhard drop bracket I bought from Schaefer ( 2 1/2" Trac/Panhard Bar Drop Bracket ).

 

How common is a "lean" with the OMEs? Should I get trimpackers just in case? I think this is the week I order the goodies.

The Downey spings come with a brackett and brake line (a $40 value I think) which is why they are more. Personally I like the HD Downeys because I can go to grandmass house with bikes, subwoofer, and some gear without having my a$$ drag the whole way. Mine sags a much as an empty stock 4runner with all that crap in it.

thanks for the pics miles! by the way do you have measurments from the wheelwell to the rim after the downey lift?

 

No actuall mersurements but I do know that for me the height from rim to fender in the rear was EXACTLY the same as the stock gap in the front after the lift. Then I cranked the torsion bars to get about 1/8" more gap in the front than the rear.

In case you didn't figure it out, this is with the OME 901's...and I think the fender to rim was like 15" or so...

 

I cannot attest to what OME's will do for you, but Downey 1.5s lifted my 4Runner's saggy rear 2.5". Before and after's on my thread:

I towed a big tandem box trailer over the weekend and saw a major difference. When I towed it with the original springs it made my truck look just plain silly, not to mention how horribly it handled with it's front end in the air. The Downey's kept the truck darn near level, and improved handling 100%.
