ome setup Q's

i am about to do a lift on my 99 runner 4x4. i am wanting the 3" lift, so instead of going with the 881 and top spacers for the front and 890 in the rear, i was thinking of going with the med 882 front and 891 rear. i dont plan on putting too much weight on the front except for around a 50 lb. bull bar. as for the rear just occasional towing. so with all that said i was wondering if the med coils all around would be too stiff of a ride for my DD??

thanks in advance for the input

iv got the 882's and a top out spacer and i think its fine, but then again my stock suspension was shot so anything feels better than what it was haha. but from what iv read the 881's and 882's have the same spring rate, the 882 is just taller

i have the 882's on the front of mine. It's harsher then stock, but i don't mind it. i think it actually rides a lot better. I had a bull bar on the front of mine too and it didn't sag at all. I think there is a thread somewhere here with pictures of mine if you search. If you plan on adding a bumper i would upgrade to the 883's even...

for the most part yes. I think a couple of people here have that set up and it's right at 3" give or take 1/4" depending on your model trim and year. That 99 of yours may not lift it a full 3" from the rest of us, but it's the tallest set up of coils you could safely go with keeping the CV's up front (99's were the tallest from the factory). If you plan on adding other things; bumpers, winches, skids, etc. they will start to sag from that true 3" though.

here's a picture of the lift with the weight of a bull bar for reference. 882's in front and fj80's in the rear. It's not a great pic, but gives you an idea of what it'll look like

You might wanna do some research on the 891's, they're usually recommended for a constant load in the back (ie, bumper, cargo, etc.)

Oh my. I love it. More importantly, my wife likes it. May have just closed the deal for me. Thank you, sir!

i have two 12" subs, tools, and carry my 60 lb. dog in the back all the time.. so i'm hopin it will all work out good. a bit of a rake would be ok with me

It will be a problem for the front springs. Stock struts or any other struts for that fact, will not extend far enough for the 882's. The only ones that i know of are the OME struts. I was contemplating the same thing before my lift and decided to get 4 new struts all-around instead of taking the time and money to change it again in a year. I'm happy now that i was patient and waited to do it all at once. Even though now, i'm contemplating swapping to 883's because of all the weight on my front end...

i was thinking this but i'll probably see how it plays out first anyways. i don't plan on flexing it anytime soon..

i'm going with the 882's and 891's with the comfort shocks front and rear.. mainly just to have them both mediums and to help with towing or any other excess weight. plan on ordering them this weekend and installing them next weekend!!

the 881s and 882s have DIFFERENT spring rates... i have the 881s on my 4runner, and my buddy has the 882s on his tacoma, and i can tell you now that they're VERY different... the 882s were fatter coils, and the spring itself is longer...

i run the 881/890 set-up with comfort shocks and they're VERY nice... the 882/891 would prolly be a bit too harsh... the 881/890 set-up is already a lot firmer than stock... and i have a 50lb brush guard and i carry as much weight in the back as possible (trailer hitch, 8" drop bar 2" ball, 3" drop bar 2" ball, lots of cargo tie downs, tow/recovery straps, a few tools, etc...)
