There has been lots of talk around here regarding OME 882's, and many folks have installed them since most of the chatter. I want to know how things went? After installing my TJM a week ago, I now have about .25" of sag with more to come (I expect) from my OME 881 Front Springs. I am now at an even 1.5" of lift, compared to my original factory setup at 60K miles. I expected the sag, I did not expect any rubbing.

Yesterday I came into my driveway a bit fast, and at full turn on the wheel and got some decent rubbing with the 265/75's. I think this was more due to the heavy braking, heavy turning, heavy front end wanting to dive a bit situation. I would like just a bit more lift to keep the rubbing away. I love the ride of the OME setup. The TJM is almost exactly 40# heavier than the stock bumper I removed. I will be getting a winch in the next few months, once I get back to work. I am heading out on a heavily loaded trip to Colorado. in just under a month. I don't wanna be rubbing.

Will the 882's give me CV problems with the TJM-T15 bumper and NO winch?

882s sit quite a bit higher than the 881s with an ARB/winch as my rig is for all practical purposes level and when I had the 881s on there for a day or two, it was still a dragster, but that could have just been the 891s I have in the rear, so consider that since you have 890s backside.

I personally wouldn't put 882s on my rig without the winch as they are made for such an application of extra weight. This is what the person I bought mine from said that it said on his ARB catalogue. My winch and ARB together I bet weigh everybit of 150 lbs+, if not more. I didn't have my local grocery store scale available. My 882s burped a bit after I put them on, but it was just because I had to stretch out the upper/lower A arms to get the 882s in there I imagine. They are fine now.

If you want, I can take you a pic of my CVs tonight so you can compare, but they look pretty good to me.

I'd say be patient and put the 882s and the winch on together because you rip them CVs up and you aren't going to be able to afford to get the winch after paying for them.

Got a diff drop in? That helps the CV angles quite a bit, or it did on mine!

Yup, I have the diff drop installed. One reason the current angles look pretty good.

Well, gapguy is running 882s with nothing but a diffdrop right now and has yet to bust anything. Yet being the key word, he's working on getting a bumper or something to help the angles a bit, but seeing that, you should be able to run 882s fine with a a tjm. I have my downey adjustables cranked all the way with just a tjm and I have been fine. I'm running 285s and have to get a body lift to get rid of my rubbing...

 

I was orgianly gonna do the OME lift but it wasnt big enough to cure my rubbing. Right now Im using the Revtek. I just barley miss rubbing on the inner back front fender wells. But its pretty cool here in hawaii I just saw a 3rd gen with a custom 6/4 lift. with 16x12.5 welds on 35s. I stood by the thing and I cant seen into the hood. Now thats a mean 3 gen lift.

 

YET...is the key word absolutley.

I couldn't find the pic he posted of his CVs but it was quite severe in my opinion and I wouldn't be comfortable with such a sharp angle on my rig. Maybe somebody else can find the pic. Have you seen the pic I'm talking about George? I would think that would be all the convincing you'd need.

 

I have these coils made by a very small hard to find company called: Toyota. They don't sag at all with a TJM-17 and a Warn M8000.

Like I said, I doubt you have heard of them.

 

Yeah, the one he posted before he put the diff drop in... I don't think they would have made it out the driveway. But I think the second one looked darn good. Let me try to find them.

Are you talking about the LC coils steve?

 

Nope, 1999 4Runner, V6, 4WD, 16" Wheels. Stock coils.

 

Yeah, I have, they are sitting in my garage right now. 99-00 4wd coils right?
The ride is half as nice as what I have now. I am thinking about a Revtek Top-Out though, Frankenstein. Perhaps I will have to resort to pinchweld bashing.

 

I'd try that first! Or you could just grind them off and reweld the gap.

 

882's and one trim packer per side with an ARB Prado bar and Warn M8000, also a diff drop. My front sits about 1/2" lower than my back with 891's.

 

Compare this CV pic to mine with the ARB/M8000 and you'll see why I say wait until you get the winch George.
