Oil on airfilter

3.4 has 191k on it and when I took out the airfilter I noticed a little oil in the housing.
from what I have read it is either a pvc valve or blow-by. I was planning to do a seaf foam treatment to hopefully un stick a ring. Am I on the right track?

I have no idea of the history on this truck. I got it cheap for here and it whas not been maintained well.

Sludge Monster recommends that you check your PCV. easy to do and cheap to replace. Mine was compeletely shot and the valve cover passage ways to the PCV were clogged. not a pretty sight when we went to do the timing belt...
Good luck.

I did that to we will see... I am going to change the plugs today and clean the intake, maf and TB. We will see if the oil comes back.

The car runs good and the PVC was very dirty. I am sure it is sludgy.. What do you recommend to treat the sludge? I am not looking for a quick fix but I do not want to tear the engine down either.

Well I did two Seafoam treatments waiting for it to cool to change the plugs. The PVC I think was original so it was replaced. I want to get two years out of it till my kid gets out of school.

Why do people do this to cars. I have a 2004 Highlander Limited with 230k on it. If you look in the engine bay it is clean and it runs like a top. Just routine maint.

I replaced the plugs and none of them were oil fouled. They all looked good but worn and the wrong type... Single not double ground. So we will wait and see how it does....

Marvel mystery oil should help to slowly dissolve the sludge.
