OEM Tire Size on '98 Tacoma?

This is a weird question, but can anyone tell me what the OEM tire sizes were for a '98 Tacoma 4WD? I bought the truck used with 265/75 R15 tires, which I have assumed was the original size. Now it's time to get new tires, and looking at Discount Tire's site they list the OEM base size as 225/75 R15 and the optional size as 31/1050 R15. So were the 265s ever offered on this truck, or did somebody put an oddball size on there before I got it?

TIA

Yes, all three of those sizes were either standard or optional.

If you look at the door seal tag with you vin # and stuff, it should list the tire size that you truck was built with.

As has been the case with the 4Runners, the door jamb stickers are unreliable. Actually, none of my 4Runners said the correct size.

the 265 75 15's arent being recomended from DTC because they aren't that commen of a tire anymore. You're better off getting the 31 x 1050 x 15. Less expensive and more options. Plus if you ever pop one then local shops will probably have most 31's in stock.

Being a DTC tire tech, delta is right about the 265/75-15R Being a odd size. 265's were offered, but I think only on 16 inch rim sizes. Go for the 31's...

OK...so exactly how different are the 31s compared to the 265s? Will it screw up the speedometer/odometer readings?

Also, anyone got tire recommendations? Right now I'm looking at BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO and Bridgestone Dueler A/T 693, which is pretty much what I have now except in the 265 size. Good/bad/indifferent?

I worked at Americas tire for 3 years and just recently broke away. (atc is dtc) CAN21, CAN08,. go to tires.com and there is a calculator or search google for the official metric to high floatation calculator

metric is 265 xx xx
high float is 31 1050 15

Umm, 31x10.5/15 is basically the same as 265/75/15's.

Actually, not even that in some cases. IIRC, most 31x10.5 are not actually 31" tall. For example, BFG A/T's in 31x10.5/15 indicate an actual height of 30.7".

Bridgestone REVO's are at 30.5"

Mathmatically, 265/75/15's come out to 30.7". Yoko Geolanders are at 30.7"

I'm thinking when these "tire techs" look for 31's, they're not looking for the right size description.
