No Start Problem
Hello Everyone. I've been reading along for a couple months now, and have found this to be an excellent board.
Unfortunately I have a problem I could use some help with. I've got a '91 4Runner 3.0, manual, that will crank over fine but not start. Went in to the convenience store for a bag of ice, left the vehicle running. Came back out and the truck was off and would not restart. Plenty of battery power - everything else works.
I have checked these things:
1. Have fuel at the fuel rail and fuel filter
2. Battery OK
3. Starter OK
4. Fuses in driver's kick panel OK
5. Fuses in realy box on pass. fender well OK
6. 99% sure there is spark at the plugs
7. Jumped TE1 & E1 at Diag. conn. Check engine light flashes code "1" - all OK
8. Cap & rotor ready for replacement but was working fine
9. Plug wire in similar condition as cap & rotor, but working
10. plugs - new
11. Timing belt at least intact
This is the first time this problem has presented. For the vehicle to suddenly cut out while idling leads me to believe that it's something relatively simple. Are there any other connectors, relays, links, etc. that I can check. I'm at a bit of a loss right now. Any ideas? TIA.
Just double checked trouble code with check enginge light. It flashes evenly in quick succession about once every second or less. According to off-road.com, there should be a 4.5 second pause between flashes. I know I have the correct jump made at the diag. conn. Am I reading the chack engine light wrong, or does the quick flash indicate something else?

As an update - fuel pump is comfirmed working. Jumped B+ and FP at the diag. conn. Appears as though there is in fact no spark. Coil measures 0 ohms on the primary side, and 5.5k ohms on the secondary - way off spec. There is power at the coil's harness with the key "on". Would appear for now that the coil is the suspect. Unfortunately I won't be able to get a new one for a few days as the local parts houses don't stock them.
