new wheels rub

ok i just got these http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku and wraped some 34x12.5 trxus's around them.

when i went to put them on today i found out that they just barely rubbed the calipers outside face to the back of the wheel, so i took out the air grider and ground away some (of the caliper) of whear it rubbed untill it stopped. but its still really close to the caliper like really close but not touching.

my question is can i put normal washers (1 maby 2 but that sounds dangerous) betwen the wheel and studs to bring it out a couple more fractions of a inch.??

or acn i get like .5" wheel spacers if they even make thoes??

thanks, josh

I don't think you're supposed to run a 15" wheel on 3rd gen 4Runners

But if it isn't rubbing now, I think you'd be good.

16" is supposed to be minimum for that exact reason, just echo all_terrain17's words.

Unless your 4runner came with stock 15" rims.

mine came with 15s stock and its rubbing on the back side of the center part of the wheel which i dont think there would be a diffrence with a 16" wheel

You can get wheel spacers down to 1/4" and 3/8" to fix that, try going into a Discount Tire or local shop when they aren't too busy and ask them to find you some if they could. They are out there, you just gotta find em. P.S. Discount may not install them for you, when I worked there about a year ago they started a new policy that states they won't work on any tires/wheels with non-hub centric wheel spacers anymore because of the liability and they are claimed as a risk to "wheel-offs". Good luck on your search

i would assume that if you ground the caliper a tad and it didnt rub while free wheeling, that it wont rub when driving, i dont know what kind of force it would take to flex a wheel right there though.

just grind a bit more out of the caliper. but if you can rotate the wheel and have no rubbing..you should be good to go. dont forget to hit the bare metal spots on the wheel & caliper with some rust paint...

X2

Using washers or the cheapo 1/4"-3/8" thick wheel spacers...BAD IDEA as that takes away lug nut thread engagement.

just because they're 15's doesnt mean they have the same clearance of the stock 15's..
