new Toyota to the family!

My fiance and I just bought a 98 SR5 4Runner. My 89 4Runner is awaiting its 3.4L swap and so I get to drive it until we sell her car. I really like it! The rear end is a little soft...will eventually put some new coils back there. I love the power compared to my 3.0L...I can't wait until I get the 3.4 swapped in!

congrats on the addition. The 3.4 is great. I had one in my last runner. It served its purpose really well, but damn the 89 is where its at! I'd love to have an earlier model runner.

How's that V8 treating you? I've never driven one, but I bet its got tons of power. Those new 4Runners are really starting to grow on me.

The v8 power is great. I am shocked everytime I get on it because it atually goes without a bunch of noise. It still looks like a grocery getter, but not for long. Take a look at Lefty. Hes running a 2" Prototype spacer and sweet wheels and tires.

As for mine, I couldn't be happier, well If it looked more like a toyota and less like an Acura or Jimmy I could be. It actually drives like a high priced sedan and responds really well with the bigger engine. Definitely the best initial impression made on me by Toyota! Lets hope it lasts!

If I need to drive something rough, I've still got my FJ40

Congrats on the 4Runner Jason!
Hey 02, your 4Runner's sharp! I've never seen a white one like yours. Also, I noticed that you have a sport edition, but you don't have the body cladding. Is that new? If I had seen one like yours, I would've had to think twice about purchasing my baby...
Cheers...

If I'm not mistaken, that's the "Appearance Package" which is almost standard at this point of time on '03 4Runners. Grey plastic cladding is pretty much history at this point...

Sorry for the confusion! I am jasonb on this forum and offroad.com. I am "medium" (because someone else already had jasonb) on 4x4wire. To alleviate confusion for everyone, would you like me to re-register with "medium" on this forum? I would gladly do it!

02Runner

I love my 1st gen 4Runner. I will love it even more when I get the 3.4 dropped in there. I also love LCs. Do you have any place down there to offroad your 40s? Eventually, I want to get an FJ60 and built it to the hilt. I wish (as most people) that Toyota would build another true offroad vehicle like the fj40, 60, or 62. Although I am pretty impressed with the offroad capability that I saw the new 4Runner in a video that was around had. I wish they had stuffed that V8 into the smaller 3rd generation 4Runners.
