for an engine, get yourself a long block from most any '85-95 pickup or 4runner. then bolt your intake, exhaust and accessories on it, and you're in business

How much should I expect to pay for a decent 22re? how difficult would it be to put a 2.7 in there? There is a decent one at the local 'yard.

at the moment all 2.7 swaps are one-offs. don't think there's any engine mounts you can buy yet, and you need to re-route the exhaust to the driver's side.

if somebody started producing a kit with mounts, a wiring harness, and exhaust piping to adapt the factory system, i might be temped to make my yellow truck a guinea pig for it

well, strangely enough I got the engine to turn last night!!! so now I need to see if some TLC will get her running and if so how viable the motor is at 157,000 on the ticker...Looks like a major oil leak plagued this truck for a while as the whole underbody and engine bay is coated with a thick layer of oil and grime...hmmm.....The funny thing is that I think that may be why there is so little rust...kind of a protective coating!!! Also, in the glove box I found a fi˟˟˟˟ll of gas receipts, and everytime it got gas, it got 1-2 quarts of oil!! Where are the most common leaky spots on the 22re??

front and rear main seals, and the half-moon shaped plugs just below the valve cover in the front and the rear of the head.

Nope, not too shabby at all...I have a new tailgate(complete with glass and all) that should be here today WOOO-HOOOO, and some used 33x12.5x15 AT tires on 15x10 Black rock crawlers(with spare) and that brings my total investment to $1150(including shipping of parts) so far. Now if I could just get a motor!!!
