New Tires! but....calipers touching wheels

I just threw on a pair of 32s MTRs on the truck (finally) with a pair of black steelies...everything is perfect with only a bit of rub at full lock BUT I noticed that the wheel is pressed against the caliper (pretty hard - enough so that the paint chipped off the inside of the wheel after tightening) I drove the truck about 160 highway miles today and didnt notice anything out of the ordinary other than the increased road noise from the MTRs....Braking seemed fine, but hell I am no expert.

anyways do I have to do something about the wheel and caliper touching or can it be left be if everything seems ok?

thanks.

edit: while searching it seemed like some people solve this problem by shaving their calipers...can I do this? any drawbacks? I love my black steelies and want to keep them!

Take the tires off, if they are indeed rubbing, you will see the marks where, grind off accordingly as it doesn't take much, then make sure to paint that spot or it'll rust.

ahh, also how the hell do I actually shave the calipers - and how much can I shave before brake fluid starts flying all over the place?

I had the same issue with my eagle 589's. They rubbed the calipers. I didn't worry too much about it because the calipers removed the excess, and my rims fit great now
As for steelies, yeh, grind'm down a bit with an angle grinder or something of the sort.

Slowly shave it down with a 4" grinder. I'd use a flap disk. You only need to remove enough so they don't touch.

since I am a total jerk, is it better to shave the caliper or the wheel?

Well, I let the caliper shave my wheel, however, you probably will have to shave your caliper. Not a big deal. You ain't gonna blow dot3 fluid on you unless you get WAYYY carried away with the grinder, shoot you could probably do it with a good hand bastard file. You'll just sweat a bit more with the latter.

I mounted the large V6 Calipers on my Landcruiser. I had to grind a lot of the "fins" off the caliper to clear my wheels.

Allright somehow it seems that two of the wheels fit the front and barely clear the calipers, while two do not....its possible that the PO overtightened the wheels or something and compressed them? or maybe they just came from the factory stamped differently - so anyways, now everythign is on and I didnt have to grind the calipers - but I was thinking instead of grinding, I would add a 1/8" wheel spacer when I have to rotate the two rear wheels (the ones that dont clear the calipers) up front...does anyone know where to find a quality (IE not pep boys) set of 1/8" six lug spacers?

what about longer bolts or nuts - if I added a 1/8" spacer would this be necessary? where could I find those longer studs/bolts if neeeded?

thanks!
