old man emu front strut problem

alrighty, i just got my ome shocks in a few days ago for my 2wd 99 4runner. i bought them because most of the people on here said that they would give a very soft ride. so, i take them to get them put on today and the the people installing them said that they would not fit insiade the coil spring. they said that they were bascially too big. does anyone know if the 2wd and 4wd coils are the same or are the 4wd coils larger than the 2wd? or do the people that i took them to just have no idea what they are talking about? i went ahead and put the rear shocks on, and they have smoothed out the ride considerably. i think that i am just going to send the front ones back and maybe get some different ones. does anyone know of any other front shocks that will fit and give me a smooth ride on the road?

thanks.

The 2WD '99 coils are the same height as the 96-98 and 01-02 4WD springs since they were taller in '99. But the '99 4WD coils are 1" taller than the other springs.

Holy smokes....I'll second this comment.
That is totally BS and I would make them refund you the money back because they do fit fine.
Just bring the vehicle back with them installed somewhere else and demand a refund.

I'm with MTL - Go get your money back. Those guys are morons.

Shocks won't fit inside the springs.... LOL!!! It's like tossing a hotdog down a hallway

This is assuming that you got the correct shocks from OME...........
You may wish to double check that before calling the guys at the shop "morons".

i got the N91s and i called the place where i ordered them from and they said that they should fit fine also. i went to another place today that is an off road place they said that they would be able to do it, but they are expensive. i guess they can be since they are the only place in town that does suspension and off road stuff.

That's kinda crazy. If you were to replace your stock stuff w/ OEM items, it's the same procedure. There's nothing fancy about putting in springs and shocks. Your basic mechanic should be able to do this or better yet most tire places that do alignment work. Fink got his install done at the dealer.
